See All Shows

It is our hope and vision that you'll find HARAMBE TV enlightening and edifying. The essence of this initiative is to portray people of African descent in a positive light, while focusing on the contributions of people of African descent throughout history, from antiquity through the 20th century.

All one has to do is to turn on the local TV news in the evening, see the latest Hollywood creation, or watch so-called prime time to witness the unrelenting juggernaut of negative images of black people . Whether it's crime news stories, daytime so-called reality shows (where 14 percent of America's population is more than 50 percent of the characters) relentless buffoonery abounds. And then there's the N-word Pimps, masquerading as comedians. It all adds up to a distortion of our everyday experience. What would Martin, Malcolm, Harriett and Sojourner do or say if they were to witness it!

Yet, there's a story to be told, a legacy to be reclaimed.

HARAMBE TV aims to counter the juggernaut by showcasing a side of the African heritage experience that all too often goes unseen. And it needs to be stated that HARAMBE TV is for everyone and is by no means only for black people. All of us are cheated when we are victims of a one-sided, skewed world view of history and reality.

African civilizations are the very oldest of all civilizations and are foundational. At the same time, they are the least known about and most distorted. HARAMBE TV is not about some form of marginal, pseudo history as "black history" as been relegated to in the U.S. HARAMBE TV is about history, pure and simple (with a little public affairs and culture mixed in).

Sadly and tragically, African heritage people are, generally, judged by others predicated on the worst attributes of some of our group, while others are, generally, judged by the best attributes of some their respective groups.

It is for this reason, combined with the sheer paucity of historical information taught in our schools, that we find it profoundly important to reclaim our legacy, to tell our own story. And do we have a story to tell! Let's start with the ancient Egyptians. Were The Ancient Egyptians Black?
